Solar Club - What Our Customers Think
By: Deanna McArthur and Samantha Prior
We originally launched our new Solar Club in March of 2019 to provide a unique opportunity for microgenerators in Alberta to earn a premium on the solar electricity they generate.
The program was designed based on the existing Micro-Gen regulation originally published in 2008, with amendments of August 1, 2018.
Members of the club have access to exclusive electricity rates, can switch between rates with no penalties to accommodate seasonal generation fluctuations, receive cash back on all energy imported from the grid on an annual basis, and will have 30% of the electricity they import from the grid offset by Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), free.
The Spot Power team recently sat down with Chelsah Thomas, owner of Sol Invictus Energy Services Inc., and inaugural member of the solar club, to hear what she thinks about the program.
