Community Spotlight: The Next Page
Welcome to the Community Spotlight blog series! We have customers in over 400 communities, for which we are incredibly grateful, so we know how special your neighborhoods are. We thought it might be a good idea to introduce you to the place we call home; the historic community of Inglewood in Calgary, Alberta. With the recent hardships small businesses have had to face, our goal is to highlight some other local businesses in Inglewood with whom we are proud to share the community.
Inglewood is well known for its cozy nooks and crannies, making it the ideal place to set up in one of its coffee shops or parks with a good book, and The Next Page has you covered.
Borne out of an idea between two high school friends, and with a bit of help from Pages of Kensington, The Next Page is a new and used bookstore located right on 9th Ave in the heart of Inglewood. They offer an eclectic array of fiction and non-fiction while trying (and succeeding!) to present their customers with titles they don’t typically come across.
Inglewood was quick to embrace The Next Page when they moved into the historic Burn Block, which has been around since 1912, and they’ve felt accepted by the tight knight community ever since.
That support was something that became much needed. The Next Page was forced to close their doors for three months during the pandemic. Thankfully, they have an online store and offer delivery which allowed them to get books into the hands of their customers as they started to cross titles off their “to be read” lists.
Now, the doors are open, and they even just recently introduced their new theatre/event space located in their basement. The plan is to show movies and have author readings that the public can attend.
The Next Page has cultivated a unique and inviting environment, so next time you're in the area, make sure to swing by for a warm beverage and some good literature, and feel free to bring your four-legged friends with you as the store is dog friendly!
